SPLIT UK have been awarded a London Marathon Golden Bond.
This follows SPLIT winning a place in the lottery for the marathon taking place in 2025 and will be a big step for raising funds, and the profile of the charity.
We are delighted that Hugh Jerome, who administers the SPLIT UK website for us, will run the marathon in 2025 and will be raising money for SPLIT UK. More details to follow soon.
What We Do
There are only three transplant centres in the UK so children travel long distances for treatment. This can be expensive and disruptive for families. SPLIT helps families who might struggle during this time. SPLIT supports children and young people with liver disease, liver and/or intestinal transplantation and their families through:
✔ Financial support for families and crisis grants.
✔ Information on organ donation and liver/intestinal disease and transplantation, for families, professionals, and the public.
✔ Research and education into the causes of liver/intestinal and transplantation, and treatments.
WE provide emergency support for families who may face unexpected and unprepared for admissions with hygiene packs and other essentials. We provide grants for families to help with the costs associated with long stays in hospital and also fund pizza nights on the ward at Birmingham Childrens Hospital. Split will also support the purchase of equipment for monitoring purposes. We also provide grants to nurses and allied health professionals to support their professional development and for research projects. The transpalnt games are an improtant date in the calendar for children and familes and we fund an "after party"
